In accelerated effort to enhance reproductive health awareness and promote family planning, the Zambia Association of Gynaecologists and Obstetricians (ZAGO) with support from AmplifyChange today (25th September) held a media conference aimed at raising awareness ahead of World Contraception Day which falls tomorrow, 26th September. The event was held in conjunction with Marie Stopes International, underscored ZAGO’s continued commitment to advocating for accessible, comprehensive contraception information and services across Zambia.

World Contraception Day, an annual event aims to improve awareness of contraceptive methods, promote informed choices, and highlight the importance of family planning in empowering women and girls, and couples to decide freely and responsibly on the number and spacing of their children. Zambia will be joining the world tomorrow to observe this important day, and will be emphasising the critical role of contraception in reducing maternal and infant mortality, preventing unintended pregnancies, and promoting gender equality.

The conference attracted media personnel from across media ecosystem, healthcare providers, representatives from Civil Society Organisations, community and youth representatives.

Key note speeches from:

  1. Zambia Medical Association (ZMA) President
  2. Medical Women Association of Zambia (MWAZ) President
  3. Zambia Association of Gynaecologists and Obstetricians (ZAGO) Secretary General
  4. CSOs Representative
  5. Community Representative
  6. Youth Representative.

ZAGO will continue to promote not only access to sexual and reproductive health services but also informed choices.
