The formation of Zambia Association of Gynaecologists and Obstetricians (ZAGO) Savings and Credit Cooperative (SACCO) was conceptualised in the year 2022 with official registration in April 2023. In making the SACCO a reality, acceptance by the ZAGO membership is critical. The executive council, with the PMU worked tirelessly to ensure this came to fruition. In addition, the Ministry of Small, Medium Enterprises Development provided training on Co-operative Management. ZAGO SACCO is a registered financial establishment that operates as a cooperative, owned and controlled by the Zambia Association of Gynaecologists and Obstetricians (ZAGO). The SACCO was conceptualised out of the need to sustain operations of ZAGO by meeting the financial needs of the general membership. The ZAGO SACCO is determined that, given the prevailing financial opportunities in this subsector, it is poised to become one of the formidable anchors, ready to provide financial empowerment to its members by making available various products and services. This is attestable by the availability of products and services that paid up members can access, in form of shares and loans. These products and services will only continue to improve as the SACCO evolves over the coming years. Read more here
