Distinguished delegates, invited guests, colleagues, ladies and gentlemen, 

On behalf of the Zambia Association of Gynaecologists and Obstetricians (ZAGO), it is my great honour to welcome you to this year’s Scientific Conference.

Allow me to pay special recognition to our guest, from the Zimbabwe Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, Dr Cloudious Verenga for being part of this important congress. We thank you Sir for honouring this Congress with your presence.

We are delighted to gather once again as a community of clinicians, researchers, educators and partners committed to advancing women’s health and strengthening the quality of Obstetric and Gynaecological care in our country. 

This conference provides us with a unique platform to share evidence, reflect on progress, and engage in meaningful dialogue on the challenges that continue to affect maternal, newborn and reproductive health. The presentations and discussions over the coming days speak to the spirit of collaboration and continuous learning that defines our fraternity. 

I wish to acknowledge the dedication of all presenters, facilitators, sponsors and organizing teams whose hard work has made this event possible. Your contributions ensure that our scientific exchange is not only rich and relevant, but also grounded in the realities of service delivery across our health system. 

As we begin this conference, I invite each one of us to participate actively—ask questions, share insights, challenge perspectives and build networks that will carry our work forward long after we leave this room. 

It is my sincere hope that our time together will inspire renewed commitment, generate practical solutions, and strengthen our collective resolve to improve outcomes for the women and families we serve.
